It turns out that the War for the Planet of the Apes is garnering a lot of attention lately.
A big reason for the series’ success is the state-of-the-art visual effects used to create lifelike apes, and a new featurette highlights the process of transforming human actors into primates.
The one-minute video, which consists of just one, long shot of Andy Serkis delivering a speech about war, transitions from being actual footage of the actor, wearing a motion capture suit, to the final shot; a breathtakingly detailed ape.
War for the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves, who also helmed the series’ previous entry, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He will now direct Ben Affleck in the solo Batman movie. WFTPOTA is scheduled for a June 14 release.
