Video from a squad car’s dash camera demonstrates an officer endeavoring to quiet an anxious driver amid a DUI stop by advising her “We just execute dark individuals.”
The video was acquired by WSB Channel 2 in Atlanta. The lady can be heard advising the officer she’s hesitant to move her hands due to late police-included shootings.
“Keep in mind that, we just slaughter dark individuals. We just murder dark individuals, right?” the officer from Cobb County tells the lady.
WSB recognized the officer as Lt. Greg Abbott. The movement stop happened in July.
WGCL Channel 46 reports the office has affirmed the remarks and Abbott has been put on authoritative obligations while the episode is examined.
Spear LoRusso, the legal advisor for Abbott, says the officer was attempting to “de-raise a circumstance including an uncooperative traveler.”
“In setting, his remarks were obviously gone for endeavoring to pick up consistence by utilizing the traveler’s own particular proclamations and thinking to abstain from making a capture,” LoRusso says.
Cobb County Police Chief Mike Register discloses to WSB that Abbott is a “decent officer” and he’s ignorant of any racial protests against him. All things considered, he discharged an announcement denouncing the episode.
“Regardless of what the specific circumstance, explanations like these are inadmissible and are not characteristic of the sort of culture we are endeavoring to encourage here in the police division, and also inside the province,” the announcement says.
