The body of a Texas land specialist has been found in a swamp over two weeks after she vanished in front of Hurricane Harvey’s landfall.
Specialists Saturday charged her ex, 44-year-old Steve McDowell, with kill.
Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne says 37-year-old Crystal McDowell vanished Aug. 25, the day Harvey made landfall, in the wake of disclosing to her sweetheart she was gone to her ex’s home to get her youngsters.
She was accounted for missing the next day.
Floodwaters and rain hampered the pursuit, yet experts followed her cellphone to a Baytown, Texas bog. A private inquiry firm at first came up flat broke.
The pursuit continued Thursday and the body was discovered Saturday.
Hawthorne says McDowell’s capture depended on fortuitous proof, chats with loved ones, and a meeting with the suspect.
