A parent was holding an educator prisoner in a classroom at a grade school in Riverside, California and understudies were being emptied while the school was secured, authorities said.
The episode was accounted for at Castle View Elementary School, at 6201 Shaker Drive, said Ryan Railsback, a representative for the Riverside Police Department.
Every one of the 670 understudies were being emptied to a recreation center off-grounds, the Riverside Unified School District said in an announcement.
“Lamentably, right now we can’t discharge any understudies until the point that the lockdown arrange has been lifted,” the announcement said. “We will speak with you again when the circumstance is settled and give you advance directions on understudy pickup.”
Julia Alvaro, who has youngsters ages 8 and 5 at the school, got a call advising her that the building was on lockdown. Both her kids are protected, she said.
“It was truly overpowering,” she said. “I was quite recently apprehensive.”
